The Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center (DPAC) is conducting a high-level search for an experienced Vice President of Construction. DPAC is an independent non-profit 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to developing, building and operating the new performing arts center in downtown Orlando. This mixed-use urban arts center will include three main halls, educational facilities, a public theatre plaza, and retail and commercial expansion.
As the Vice President of Construction, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction of the performing arts center project and mixed-use development, representing the organization’s interests independent of design professionals, general contractors and partnership affiliates.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate and recommend construction delivery methods for project
• Ensure a master project schedule is created and maintained
• Ensure that budget estimates and cash flow projections are created, updated, monitored and maintained
• Evaluate the performance of the Development Manager and manage their scope of services for the project
• Be knowledgeable about building operating systems (i.e., HVAC, heating, chilled water, telephone/data, guest services delivery systems) and participate in the selection of vendors
• Identify, assess and oversee city procurement/purchasing opportunities for supplies and materials as managed by the Development Manager and the city
• Attend or conduct project meetings with staff, contract service providers, affiliate partners, oversight committee(s) and the public
• Review and evaluate plans, schedules and budget at all stages of construction
• Provide value engineering recommendations
• Evaluate delivery schedule, including infrastructure construction, and identify potential conflict points
• Evaluate and approve pay requests from contract service providers at all stages of construction
• Approve draw schedules as well as actual draws
• Evaluate and approve construction change requests submitted by the Development Manager
• Assist in obtaining permits
• Participate with project oversight committee comprised of volunteer community leaders
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management with at least 15 years of senior or management level experience in overseeing the planning, design and construction of large, complex projects. Qualified individuals will be required to demonstrate experience as a lead project manager.
